Conversion charts
-
Do you have a conversion chart for smoked meat accelerator and sodium erythorbate?
-
afterhours I found it thanks
-
afterhours I’d recommend using a very accurate scale instead of the volume measurements I provided. It is far more accurate that way but if all you have is volume then those measurements provided should be very close to accurate.
-
Jonathon have you thought of putting the amounts in grams in addition in the charts
-
craigrice Gram conversion is the way to go…or at least what works for me. For some of the additions that require a more precise measurement, a grain scale could be used.

Joe Hell as we speak I have 10 lb. of summer sausage in the smoker
-
PapaSop that is why I asked some are some are not
-
Joe Hell going to have rain tomorrow Wednesday will be snack sticks and maybe some cheese for xmass giving
-
craigrice I’m waiting on an order so I can make snack sticks this week!
-
craigrice I am actually going to stop what I am doing right now (nothing too pressing!) and get on that, great suggestion, thank you
-
Joe Hell I see you are on, can you go to https://meatgistics.waltonsinc.com/topic/700/cure-conversion-chart and tell me if you like it better as (0.8 oz) (22.5 g) or (4 oz / 113.2 g)
-
Okay, Cure conversion is done…someone tell me if they think the (0.8 oz) (22.5 g) looks better than the (4 oz / 113.2 g) cause I went with the second one
-
Jonathon I like it, looks good and is easy to read and understand.
-
Jonathon I think that works just fine! When I get my seasonings in the mail the first thing I do is to mark each bag with the gram per pound conversion. If that could be marked on the packaging that would be great!
-
Jonathon
That looks great. Should be huge help for everyone, whichever way they’re comfortable with. -
Jonathon can you check the conversion on “smoked meat stabilizer”? My print out for 5lbs says 2 tablespoons/.4oz/5.5G. Not coming close to this numbers on my scale or doing the math from 100lb batch bag.
-
afterhours I’m coming closer to 12 grams
-
afterhours 11.2 grams is correct. I changed it, from 5.5. Sorry about that, the volume measurement was correct but I just double checked all the additives and there was one or two more that I somehow converted incorrectly. It seems like on those I halved the weight on the 5 lb batches. Very sorry, and thanks for catching it!
-
Jonathon awesome… thank you
