Sounds good. Appreciate you checking that out. I guess there had to be a reason. Perhaps I’m just the [censored] one who has to read all those warning stickers…
Thanks again Austin!
#12 Knife does not fit my grinder
-
Customer service is taking care of me already but I wanted to see if anyone else is having or have had this issue. I have a 10 year old #12 cabelas grinder. I ordered the #12 Everlasting knife from Walton’s. When I got it it does not fit on the auger. It’s too small. Does cabelas have a unique size or is this a fluke on the Everlasting knife? I bought a new cabelas #12 knife and it says “fits all #12 grinders” which leads me to believe they do not have a unique size.

BrianB When you say its too small, do you mean that the center auger is too big and that the square hole in the knife won’t make it over that, or vice versa?
-
Jonathon correct. The square on the knife is too small.

BrianB I just bought the #32 butcher series and bought Everlast knifes so each plate could marry. However the Everlast knife is to thick and doesn’t let plate engage the notch. Weston knife allows it to sit deeper but not much better. I’m still waiting for a solution or some direction from customer service.

iowa arborist I use the exact same setup, an everlast knife and a weston plate and I have no problems at all. What Weston grinder do you have?
-
Here’s my #22 with everlasting knife and regular plate

Jonathon I took a measurement of the weston and everlasting knife and there appears to be about a 2.5mm difference in thickness. You think I could surface grind the back of knife or just sharpen the blades down aways as a solution? I realize that would kinda defeat the purpose of purchasing knives you can sharpen but unsure how to solve this.

iowa arborist that is a big difference.

Jonathon I mailed it back yesterday. You should try to catch it and see if there are any discrepancies from other #12’s. It would be nice to see if there is a consistency issue and nail it down so there’s do not lose money sending it back. If you need any numbers I can mic my auger. I sent it back attn: RMA 3740 if that helps.

BrianB I think so as well. I’m kinda waiting to hear back on how I should proceed
-
BrianB I will ask that it be brought to me when it comes in.

BrianB iowa arborist This arrived yesterday and I had the time to do some checking this morning and it does NOT work with a Weston #12 Butcher or Pro Series Grinder. I have updated the website to include that information and am very sorry, the #22 everlasting knife works perfectly with the #22 Pro Series Grinder, so I have no clue why this would be different with a #12.
I also tried a few other knives to make sure that it wasn’t just this particular one and it is all of them that have a problem.
