Lost a freezer last night
-
It appears that I will need to get a new freezer. I needed a break from that Presidential debate last night and decided to go and grab a dessert from the freezer. I see water on the floor in the basement. I must have caught it when the failure just happened, as the contents were still pretty hard frozen. I quickly transferred everything to my chest freezer in the garage. Time to get a new freezer I guess. They don’t make them like that anymore. It was a good one! So thankful I caught it on time - Would have lost well over 100 pounds of sausage, deer, elk, etc…

Lucky catch! Here’s hoping your search for a replacement goes well.

lkrfletcher Very fortunate catch, I just recently lost a lot of meat. I would suggest that you look for local restaurant equipment auctions. At least in the Houston vicinity, restaurants are going under at an alarming rate. I feel bad for those who did not survive. However, equipment is going for very low prices. I picked up a 3 door freezer for $120. can’t beat that.

lkrfletcher I think we all needed a break from two angry old men yelling at each other, I can see that stuff at a family reunion when we start talking Yankees -Sox! Good catch though, that would have hurt!

Jonathon Couldn’t agree more. SO is the new category open for opinions on the angry old men of last night. If not, I’ll just have to watch the movie Grumpy Old Men…

lkrfletcher Lucky guy, I had finished all my work for the day. LOL The wife had it at about 20 minutes. I, like the evil person I am, watched the whole debate. I agree, it was a very sad display of just what our country has stooped to. Total disregard for others, lack of personal integrity, well, in my opinion, this topped the lack of respect for our country over what Bill did in our oval office. I can only imagine what our founding fathers would say.

Chef do what you want in that new category if people want to argue that’s fine, as long as it doesn’t spill into any other categories have at it! A good rule of thumb for Meatgistics is say what you want but try to be respectful to other people. Somewhere we forgot that in day to day life and for the first 5 years of meatgistics I can only think of once that I had to step in on something which is pretty incredible when you think about it. 22,600 posts and just 1 I had to remove and less than 10 that were even a consideration.
Edit - That is not including these moronical spammers!

Jonathon Ditto Again for you & Chef. Told my wife it sounded like two adolescent boys hashing it out, but you guy[censored] the nail on the head.
-
lkrfletcher I am real sorry to hear about that. I am glad you caught it in a nick of time & all that pride & joy did not have to go to waste or go for a quick smoke (I would not have wasted it). But, sorry you are going to have to spend money on a new freezer, that don’t come across well.
-
Chef You hit the nail on the head, RESPECT! I just caught the last part by the time I wrapped it up for the day. But RESPECT, that is what I have been talking about.
-
That is pretty much exactly what I told my wife about it too, in addition to the young boy buiness.
-
Chef Wow, I need to get an inspection job in Houston! That is amazing!

Years ago I came home from vacation and my freezer door in the basement was partially open. It appeared that I had something leaning against the wall that slid down the wall and hit the door handle just perfect to knock it ajar. Everything was thawed and rotten and the stinky deer blood went into my dry sewer in the basement. Man did that stink forever regardless what I put down the drain. The crazy part is the freezer is still working to this day. Not sure how long it was running 24/7 because of the door being ajar. To this day its going on about 15 years old and still works great for a small upright.

Man I’m glad I caught it, I had a bunch of deer and elk meat in mine too. Don’t want that smell.
-
calldoctoday I watched part of it but not much.Someone told me the last time they saw something like that it was from the balcony of the muppet show!
-
KenfromMI Definitely been there & done that before & understand that smell.
