Vintage Morton Brine Pump Sees The Light Of Day
I was sorting through my box of processing supplies and found this relic from the past that I have never used, but still keep around for some reason.
It is a Morton Meat Pump and I believe was marketed by Morton Salt Co. for use with their Morten Tender Quick home curing product.
For home processers, it was the tool to use for stitch pumping hams, or other cuts of meat at a time before there were other suppliers out there for do-it-yourself processors.
Its made of chrome plated brass and is pretty decent quality.
Shown with a glass of homebrewed maibock for scale.
Prolly made way better than the stuff made today!
I see Walton’s and others still carry a model that looks very similar to the one I have.
What dates mine as pretty old, and also the reason I don’t use it, is the fact the internal seals are made of leather!
